This leak detection tool has proved valuable on multiple occasions in development, testing and production, including its use in live production systems to track down difficult defects. In the production phase, it has literally saved millions in contract penalties for uptime and stability. In the development and testing phases prior to production, it accounts for millions more in savings. In one additional example, a daemon process was running out of memory after a day of processing. The process was meant to run forever, so an uptime of a single day was considered a major defect. The client team deployed Leak Check and found literally hundreds of defects including several major memory leaks.
